XLPower - Nimbus 550 Nitro kit
The Specter 550 Nitro is a top-of-the-line 550-class internal combustion engine powered helicopter. It combines design elements proven in the electric Nimbus 550 and combustion Specter 700 Nitro and offers a number of unique solutions ensuring easier operation, adjustment and high reliability.
The heart of the Nimbus 550 Nitro is a compact bearing block of the main rotor shaft and the 7075 duralumin ring servo holder, which, together with the carbon frame, ensures the unique rigidity of the frame.
The CCPM 120° swingarm plate with extended arms and optimized geometry is controlled by a trio of miniservs with a precision rod system with a large deflection range to provide the same steering authority as the renowned electric Nimbus 550.
The sophisticated conical shaft centrifugal clutch system is derived from the Specter 700 Nitro. Preparations for precise assembly of the clutch and engine are part of the kit. Cone joints on the clutch shaft and disc ensure smooth running with minimal vibration. The propulsion system offers top performance thanks to the incredible stiffness of the airframe; a robust system with a double one-way bearing guarantees not only high performance, but also extended bearing life and overall more reliable engine operation. Engine maintenance is also very simple thanks to the possibility of removing the engine from below without the need to dismantle other parts of the model. The same applies to the fan cover, both halves of which can be removed without disassembling other parts.
The servo and yaw link are located above the tail spar, which contributes to a better distribution of the helicopter's mass in the vertical axis. Similar to the Specter 700 Nitro, a quick-release tie rod end that does not require the use of glue is used.
The tail beam consists of a rigid carbon tube with a diameter of 27 mm, requiring no additional struts and ensuring precise control of the tail. The balancing rotor control and drive mechanism is housed in a one-piece duralumin housing for easy assembly and maintenance.
